Distance Learning Resources

Welcome to the Coronavirus/Shelter-in-Place Distance Learning Resource Page

By now, most of us will be doing some kind of distance instruction whether it's full or partial. My school will be starting with 100% distance instruction. This will be a struggle for many of us as we have to reimagine how we deliver instruction and engage our students.

For some of us, we had the exposure to it last spring. Training might still be inadequate. The transition won't be easy. Just remember to be flexible and keep an open mind. Throw some of the expectations out the window. This is emergency teaching!

To make the transition easier for you, I am sharing with you my resources. Hope it helps! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out! I'd love to collaborate!

Zoom Guide

If your school/district is still using Zoom as a platform, I'm compiled a settings guide to help you navigate the settings to minimize Zoom bombing. You will also find a few useful Zoom tools you can use to enhance your experience. So far, I've had 0 Zoom bombing incidents.

Distance Learning Course Syllabus

My district had us write a new syllabus for each of our classes, reflecting on our policy and changes to distance learning. You can preview the ones I wrote for my classes here. Feel free to make your own copy and adapt it to your needs!

After doing distance learning for a few weeks and based on student interaction, I added onto my syllabus to change the credit and class structure to be more reflective and understanding of students. You can view it in the addendum.

Course Materials

I picked up where I left off when schools closed, but have since modified some things to accommodate distance learning and reduced the amount of materials covered. After all, distance learning is NOT normal and we should NOT treat it as normal and hold the same expectations as we would during the regular school year. You can find my curriculum here.

Feel free to make a copy of the calendar if you want. Some students have mentioned how the calendar can look overwhelming because of all the text and links. Some of them haven't figured out the "Document Outline" function I utilized in my Google Docs, which functions like a table of contents. To accommodate that, I also post the agenda and assignments on the Google Classroom platform and the School Loop platform my school district uses.
