Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! Hope you are surrounding yourself with loved ones and eating plenty! Most importantly, catching up on rest! It's a good time to catch a breather and recharge before we jump into the second half of the school year. What do you do during your winter break? Here's what I'm doing with my break and what you might consider doing as well...
Basically my winter break is spent "catching up" on things. What am I catching up on?
1. CATCHING UP ON SLEEP
2. CATCHING UP WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS
I've seen the joke. "Don't ask me to hang out during a school night!!!" It's kind of true with me. I'm so busy during the week I don't have time to hang out. That kind of goes for most of the school year. I kind of just "poof" off the radar then I reemerge from my cocoon once the breaks come along. My friends are also scattered around the world, so winter break is a nice time to visit and catch up with family and friends. So far, I've had a blast. We caught up with each other and had our fair share of laughs over silly things. Things so silly that I sometimes go, "Umm...I'm a teacher??? Hahaha..." I tried an escape room for the first time and we succeeded in escaping with 10 minutes left on the counter! My buddy also took me to a driving range. That was fun and relaxing!
3. CATCHING UP ON SHOWS
4. CATCHING UP ON READING
There's a few books I've been wanting to read. A few of them I started and haven't finished. There's about 10 of them at the moment. My goal is to completely read at least 3 of them this break. What am I reading or trying to finish this break?
5. CATCHING UP ON FINANCES
6. CATCHING UP ON REFLECTIONS
Time to start drafting up a New Year Resolution! What worked in the classroom? What didn't? What do I want to change in my curriculum? How's my work-life balance? What things should I start saying no to? How do I schedule more time for exercise throughout the week? Lots of things to reflect on for 2020. 2020 will be a crazy year indeed. More on this later.
7. CATCHING UP ON LESSON PLANNING?
How are you spending your winter break?
